The Club:
Odense BK are triple Danish champions (1977, 1982 and 1989). Furthermore the club won
the Danish cup five times; most recently they achieved this in 2007. As a result of the
championship titles it is no surprise that the club have had their best years between 1975
and 1990. Thereafter the club was relegated to the second division in 1998. Following the
immediate return of the club to the higher division they achieved two more cup wins. The
club have virtually played continuously in the top Danish division. The club has also been
present at international level. OB achieved their greatest international success in the
1994/95 season. After only having started in the UEFA cup via the qualifiers, OB ejected the
1st FC Kaiserslautern out of the competition in the second round by virtue of a single away
goal more. More recently the club could be found in the group stage of the 2011/12 UEFA
Europa League. In recent years the club did not achieve any good placings, being in
midfield for most of the time. In the current season Odense BK continues to occupy only a
mid-field position.
The City:
Odense is a large city on the Danish island of Funen. It has a population of around 180,000
and is consequently the third largest city in Denmark. The natives are known as
Odenseaner since the River Odense A runs through the town. It is connected to Odense
Fjord via the Odense Canal. The city was mentioned in a document for the first time in
988. The city, which lies 13 metres above sea level, was officially founded in 1355. This city
in Scandinavia has a lot of tourist attractions. These include numerous museums as well
as the Gothic cathedral the church of St Knud which dates back to the 14th century.

to be built in Odense. Odense Airport lies about 12 kilometres from the City. Moreover the
city is a way station for the intercity train between Copenhagen and Jutland. The leading
football club in the city is the Superliga club Odense BK. The H.C. Anderson marathon has
