The Club
With GNK Dinamo Zagreb, the International U19 Football
Tournament in Altstätten will welcome a team from Croatia for the
first time in 2026 – and what a team it is: the club from the capital
Zagreb is one of the largest and most successful clubs in the
country and is the record winner of the Croatian championship.
Dinamo has shaped Croatian football in recent years like no other
club and has been almost continuously champion – only in the
2024/25 season did the title go to HNK Rijeka. Dinamo has also
been at the very top nationally for decades and is a multiple cup
winner.
In addition to its sporting successes, Dinamo Zagreb stands for an
impressive tradition. The club looks back on an eventful history in
which its name, crest and club structure have repeatedly
undergone social changes. Since 2010, the club has officially been
known as GNK Dinamo Zagreb.
Dinamo also regularly attracts attention internationally. The club
has been seeking to join Europe's elite for years – and made the
leap into the Champions League in 2024/25.
However, Dinamo is particularly well known for its strong youth
development programme. The U19 team has been among the
best in Croatia for years, consistently winning titles and achieving
top rankings: Dinamo won the U19 championship in the 2023/24
season, followed by the runner-up title in the 2024/25 season. The
youth team is once again competing for the title this season.
The anticipation is correspondingly high: Altstätten can look
forward to welcoming a top-class, technically strong team that
stands for pace, quality and passion. Spectators can look forward
to a real football treat – Dinamo Zagreb is bringing Croatian
football culture to Altstätten.

The City
With around 760,000 inhabitants, Zagreb is Croatia's largest city
and also the country's capital. The city is located in northern
Croatia at the foot of the Medvednica Mountains and uniquely
combines historical flair with modern city life.
Zagreb is particularly well known for its old town with narrow
streets, traditional buildings and numerous squares that invite
visitors to linger. At the same time, Zagreb is an important
commercial and financial centre and the seat of many central
administrative and military authorities.
Zagreb also has a lot to offer culturally: museums, theatres,
sports facilities and a lively gastronomy and café scene
characterise the cityscape. Thanks to its central location, Zagreb
is also an important transport hub and is considered the heart
and meeting place of the country – dynamic, hospitable and
sports-loving.
