The Club
After 2000, 2002 and 2012, Nottingham Forest is visiting the
Upper Rhine Valley for the fourth time. The traditional English
club was founded in 1865 and is one of the best-known clubs in
English football.
Nottingham Forest has had an eventful and extraordinary
history: the club won the English championship (1977/78) and
the FA Cup twice. However, its international record is particularly
impressive: Forest is one of the few European clubs to have won
the European Cup – twice in a row (1979 and 1980).
After a 23-year absence, Nottingham Forest returned to the
Premier League in the 2022/23 season and has been back on the
highest stage in English football ever since.
Since 1898, the club has played its home games at the legendary
City Ground on the River Trent – a stadium with a great tradition
and a strong atmosphere. It is also the venue for the traditional
East Midlands Derby against Derby County, one of the most
emotional rivalries in English football.
Nottingham Forest is another club that combines tradition,
international appeal and sporting quality – lending additional
prestige to the U19 tournament.

The City
Nottingham is located in the East Midlands of England, on the
River Trent, and is one of the country's best-known cities.
Nottingham became famous worldwide primarily through the
legend of Robin Hood and the ‘Sheriff of Nottingham’ – a piece of
English folklore that is still closely associated with the city today.
In addition to its legends, Nottingham is also a city with a strong
history and identity: in the 19th century, it was an important
centre of industrialisation, particularly known for its lace and
textile industries (Lace Market). This historical heritage still
shapes the cityscape today.
Another typical feature of Nottingham are the many sandstone
caves beneath the city – a unique, centuries-old cave system that
makes Nottingham an even more special destination.
Today, Nottingham is a lively, young city with several universities
and a great sporting tradition – with Nottingham Forest's City
Ground right on the Trent as one of its most famous landmarks.
